At Blair Engineering, we also supply specialized built-for-application centrifugal compression packages. With a maximum of two stages, our compressors are fully in-house designed with custom aerodynamics to maximize process performance. Our compression can also be designed for cryogenic service, with suction temperatures as low as -300 F and are typically used in a reflux compression service for the patented Ortloff SRC process. We have a unique approach to high speed integral geared cryogenic compression, and supply API 610/614/617 compliant packages, please read more below or contact us directly for more information.
Machine Features
With a stiff shaft rotor design, our compressors can be operated at a wide speed range, and are suitable for VFD motor drivers. This increases the operating range of the compressor significantly, and allows for a wide range of flow and differential pressure. The compressor design is integral, with a overhung impeller. Both closed closed and open wheel configurations are used depending on application, and most are equipped with a parallel plate diffuser. Blair Engineering’s gearbox design incorporates thrust bearings on both the high speed pinion and bull gear, with direct embedded RTD’s on all radial and thrust bearings for accurate machine protection.
System Design
As with our turbo-expander packages, our centrifugal compressor packages use stainless steel piping for improved system cleanliness and reduced commissioning time. Most units are equipped with a gear driven lube oil pump for normal operation and an in tank pump for start-up. The skid design incorporates a sole plate/reservoir assembly for a compact footprint, the lube oil cooler can be on or off skid depending on customer preference.
